Paphiopedilum

Origin of the Paphiopedilum;

The Paphiopedilum is also known as the Venus Slipper. It orginates from tropical Asia and Central America. In order to protect itself from the sun the Paphiopedilum grows, in shady areas, for example between rock and at the foot of plants and trees. the Paphiopedilum species are hybrids which are cultivates primarily for their durability and are further selected based on form and colour. They are available in various colours. The Paphiopedilum usually has a single flower per stalk.

The Paphiopedilum USA, also called American Hybride, has very big flowers until a diameter of 15 cm.

Zygopetalum

Origin of the Zygopetalum;

This orchid grows in Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia on tree stumps, rocks and leaves. During flowering, some species Zygopetalum a delightful fragrance.
